@@TPau65 ach egal, ich bin kein Coder, hatte 1992 an meinem Amiga 500 eine Disketten Demo gegen Rassismus erstellt, natürlich alle Grafiken mit DPaint erstellt und den Song mit Protracker.. inzwischen bin ich eine alte Schachtel mit 55 .. 😄

It's actually better in version 1.1.0! But still not perfect imho. Oh yes, the original Atari version scared the shit out of me when that Alien appeared the first time! Especially when you have played the leaked Beta "Behind Jaggi Lines" for hours before. An almost complete version, but without these Aliens! 😁

Yes, would have been possible. But in the Readme he said that he had to make some (more) compromises in graphics, if he would had used MOD playback.

The soundchip in the Amiga is not a real soundchip as tha Yamaha, Paula is a DAC the has to be fed with soundsamples one way or another. Or am I wrong? Could Paula create sawtoorh, sinus etc, as Yamaha and the SID?

@@MacMelmac I can explain some more, I could have done earlier. Paula in the Amiga is a 8 bit DAC, able to play samples 4 channels up to 28 khz. The way the paula is promoted back in the days is insanely overrated, it is in fact a simple chip. The Atari Falcon is the only homecomputer from the 80s and 90s with a DAC that breaks the homecomputer sounchip barriere being able playing 16 bit 8 channels 50 khz samples. The yamaha chip do not get me wrong, is not a bad chip but also not a special chip, it is a pretty standard chip, but in the right hands it should be capable of sounding decent enough, that you can not hear the difference between the ST and amiga 500. The Yamaha could be heared in one of the ST demos by I believe The Lost Boys I am not sure, can be another demogroup, with 8 bit samples and mixed at 22 khz, the Yamaha however should be able to handle the Amiga KHZ, thus 28 khz. The STE DAC is able to produce 4 channels 8 bit 50 KHZ samples. So, yes the STE has a better DAC than Amiga 500. The Yamaha can also produce synthesizer sound, but is not a beast. There are some tricks that pushes the limits of the Paula and Yamaha, but as far as I know, no one used those tricks. Another example, the atari xl/xe 8 bit has the Pokey sound chip and the commodore 64 has the SID chip. There is a possibility to play SID sound on Pokey, but playing Pokey on SID gives issues. Almost no one used that. There should be example on youtube, playing SID on Atari xl/xe 8 bit. Back to the Amiga/ST. Amiga has the Agnus chip, included are the copper and the blitter.On STE the blitter is a seperate (huge) chip so more advanced than the Amiga blitter. On ST there was a game Enchanted Lands showing hardware scrolling on ST using sync scrolling. So on ST no need for the "small" hardware blitter of the Amiga 500. Thus hardware scrolling known from the Amiga 500 is simply possible on ST. Unfortunately there are not many games on ST using software blitter scrolling. However there are enough demos from the cool demoguys/girls back from the 80s and 90s using software blitter scrolling, so you can enjoy more of that technique like the Thalion game / carebears Enchanted Lands.

November 2022. The STE indeed has a palette of 4096 colors, but like the ST can only display 16 colors at once (without programming tricks). If you look closely the dead tree only appears when the Psygnosis logo is displayed, as the color palette has to be switched between the Beast logo and tree (for what I understood in a comment in his release video)! 😉

@@TPau65 I think these guys are already doing the palette switching (tricks) based on the amount of colors on just the Psygnosis logo. I am sure they had their reasons for dithering a lot like this. Maybe another crew will improve upon this. If you look at most of the tier 1 demo crews like The Care Bears, most of the demos have a lot more than 16 colors at once.

@@noelsaw Dithering and interleaving 16 colors gives you a cheap way to achieve up to 136 effective colors (in theory). With this technique you can throw almost all resources to get that nice parallax effect, and still have time for horizontal blank interrupts, so you'll have gradients on logos out of a single actual color.

It was a matter of market share. Most ST gamers had the STf, so most games targeted that (including the ST version of SOTB). Not many games were written for the STe, despite its capabilities. The ST market was petering out by the time of its release. Same story with the Falcon. We could've had Doom on that. A homebrew developer eventually made a port of it, called BadMooD.

Also Retrohax funktioniert! Dort findet man auch einen Github-Link für Firmware-Updates. Hab das in der Videobeschreibung meiner beiden mouSTer-Videos korrigiert. 🙂 Würde mich stark wundern, wenn der ComPro USB nicht mit dem mouSTer funktioniert, wenn selbst "komplexere" Pads wie XB360, PS4/5 laufen. Aber letztlich hilft nur ausprobieren, oder bei Retrohax nachfragen.

​@@TPau65 Danke für die schnelle Antwort. Die homepage geht jetzt, ich wollte nach updates schauen. Ich hatte nur Angst das ich die CIAs im Amiga zerschieße, wenn ich diesen Joystick anstatt (wie vorgesehen die Mäuse) an diesen USB adapter anschließe. Ist schließlich kein wollwertiger USB Kontroller wie bei Windows, wo man alles an USB dran anschließen kann. So meine Befürchtung.
